We recently had the opportunity to interview Marwan Semaan, Deputy Managing Director – Sales & Marketing of RAMY Automotive. A seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of the international OEM market, Marwan has a proven track record of developing new businesses. Ardent of learning about new challenges or areas of business, Marwan led RAMY Automotive to double in size after assuming his role.

RAMY Automotive, a pioneering automotive company born out of passion, has been dedicated to offering car-care products, solutions for off-road enthusiasts, and more since 1992. Holding a significant position in the company, Marwan Semaan is contributing towards expanding RAMY to different regions and leaving a lasting impact on the industry.

Spark Behind Choosing the Profession

We started by asking, “What motivated you to take on your current role, and how has it shaped your career?”

Marwan Semaan shared, “Leading a team (and learning from them) of highly professional individuals who share the same passion has motivated me to take this role. Moreover, my passion for off-roading, camping, and the outdoors has motivated me to take my current role. Before COVID, I was driven by speed and adrenaline. After COVID, I became more inclined towards more relaxing and social activities in nature.”

A Big Leap in Career

Interested to learn more about Marwan Semaan’s career path, we asked him to share a moment when he took a big risk in his career and his experience from the same.

Marwan Semaan shared, “I took a big risk in my career when I started hiring highly qualified and skilled professionals into a small family business. I knew that the only way up would be with an A-Team, no matter the short-term cost. It was hard at first but then proved to be the best thing we have done for the business. I learned that you cannot grow and sustain a business on your own. You need the best team to grow exponentially.”

“Do your best. Try your best. Be true to yourself, your team, and your customers,” he added.

A Career-Defining Project

To learn about an impactful project led by Marwan Semaan in his business, we posed the question, “Can you tell us about a project or initiative that has been particularly meaningful to you?”

“Launching Ramy Motors, a sister company of Ramy Automotive has been a highlight in my career. I have learned through this project in 1 year as much as I would have learned in my regular day-to-day life in 5 years. I have listened to and learned from our shareholders who are top industry leaders in their fields,” Marwan mentioned.

Impact of AI on the Automotive Industry

To gather Marwan Semaan’s perspective on the significance of AI, we inquired, “What are your thoughts on adapting to AI in the current Business Landscape?”

Marwan Semaan reflected, “I believe it is a must and that it will supercharge our efficiency and productivity.”

Navigating through Challenges

Being a dynamic industry, businesses in the automotive sector are inevitably faced with challenges. We asked, “What’s a challenge you’ve recently faced, and how did you navigate it?”

“The EV and Chinese markets are taking over the automotive industry leaving the rest of the vehicles (which generate income for us) with a smaller market share. You will know soon how we navigated the challenge if you follow us,” Marwan explained.
