His Highness Konexio Africa was recognized as the recipient of the ninth Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support (SIARA) by Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, the deputy ruler of Sharjah and humanitarian envoy for The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), as well as Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler’s wife, chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, were present.
With the Dhs500,000 prize, Konexio Africa will be able to expand its operations and increase its influence in communities at risk. The award recognizes the organization’s work in developing a humanitarian paradigm that emphasizes education for employment.
The award ceremony, held at the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) headquarters, began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates. This was followed by a brief film about the award that highlighted the humanitarian significance of the SIARA and its history of honoring creative international initiatives that have enabled refugees to become self-sufficient.
