The operator of the five airports in the Emirate, Abu Dhabi Airports, announced today that Indian airline IndiGo has begun service on three additional direct routes.

Zayed International Airport (AUH) will be connected to the Indian cities of Mangaluru (IXE), Tiruchirappalli (TRZ), and Coimbatore (CJB) via these new routes.

According to a press release on Tuesday, this expansion increases the number of IndiGo-operated routes to 13 and improves connectivity between Abu Dhabi and important locations throughout India.

Vice President of Aviation Development at Abu Dhabi Airports, Nathalie Jongma, stated, “This announcement is very encouraging as it reflects the vibrancy of our respective hubs.” More than just adding flights, our goal with this expansion is to strengthen our excellent working relationship with Indigo, make new routes available to businesses, and connect families and friends.

Sanjeev Ramdas, IndiGo’s Executive Vice President of Airport Operations and Customer Services, said, “This expansion highlights the important role Abu Dhabi plays as a hub for our travellers and strengthens our presence in the region.
