As part of a “historic deal” demonstrating the strategic alliance between the two nations, the UAE received the first batch of 80 Rafale fighter jets from France on Thursday. The French business Dassault Aviation donated the aircraft, which are among the most sophisticated in the world, to the Ministry of Defence (MOD). One of the most significant defence agreements in the history of UAE-French ties is the historic Rafale deal, valued at 16.6 billion euros (about Dh63.5 billion). It is part of manufacturing 80 fighter jets outfitted with the newest defence systems.
According to the MOD, the purchase of these aircraft is a component of a larger strategy to update the UAE’s defence capabilities in response to regional and global security issues. Top Emirati and French officials, including Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, attended the ceremonial event in Paris when the aircraft was welcomed.
Al Mazrouei stated, “With President Sheikh Mohamed’s unwavering support, our armed forces have made significant progress in terms of modernisation and equipment, placing them among the most prepared and effective forces in the region and the world.
