Along with Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates is an official Guest of Honor at the fourth Global Digital Trade Expo, which opened Thursday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Senior officials, representatives of government agencies, and national businesses attended the opening ceremony, along with UAE Ambassador to China Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Consul-General in Shanghai Muhannad Sulaiman Al Naqbi, and Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and head of the UAE delegation.
Al Saleh emphasized in his speech how crucial the occasion is to advancing international economic cooperation, especially in the area of digital trade, which he defined as a catalyst for growth and sustainable development. He commended the expo’s organization and thanked China for welcoming the UAE as a Guest of Honor.
According to Al Saleh, the UAE is now China’s primary non-oil commercial partner in the Middle East and Africa, serving as a gateway for over 60% of China’s commerce with the region, as ties between the two countries have grown significantly over the past 40 years. China is currently the UAE’s biggest trading partner worldwide, demonstrating the strength of their all-encompassing strategic alliance.
