Since the UK is starting to switch to digital immigration systems and embrace the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), Emirates Airlines has recommended visitors to become informed with the new developments in British travel regulations.

According to the carrier’s website, the British government has begun replacing traditional immigration paper documents with electronic visas (eVisas). Additionally, travelers who did not require a prior visa for brief visits lasting less than six months were required to obtain an electronic travel authorization.

The airline advised its clients to review the travel requirements and apply for the authorization through official channels well in advance of the flight date, as eligible passengers without an ETA will not be permitted to board the aircraft starting on February 25, 2026, and will not be able to travel to the United Kingdom lawfully.

Additionally, the airline advised passengers with British visas who have expired biometric residency permits or who are still using paper immigration credentials to register for an account with the British Visa and Immigration Department in order to change their status to an electronic visa (eVisa).
