The Dubai Court of Appeal has confirmed a lower court’s ruling sentencing a drug trafficker to life imprisonment. The court also ordered the confiscation of the seized narcotics. It barred the convict from transferring or depositing money either personally or through intermediaries, without prior approval from the UAE Central Bank in coordination with the Ministry of Interior. Following completion of his sentence, the man will be deported.

The case dates back to July last year, when Dubai Police’s General Department of Anti-Narcotics received a tip-off that the accused was selling crystal meth for profit. Investigators learned that he had a history of drug abuse and frequented the Abu Hail area. A sting operation was set up, leading to his arrest in possession of nine packets of meth.

A search of his residence uncovered heroin, hashish, and other narcotics hidden in a shoebox, along with scales and tools used for packaging drugs. During questioning, the man admitted to distributing crystal meth by concealing it at various locations, photographing the drop sites, and sending coordinates to an associate abroad, earning Dhs30 for each delivery.
