Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration in research, development, and innovation in the energy and water sectors. The Memorandum, which runs until May 29th, was signed during the “World Utilities Congress 2025,” hosted at Adnec Abu Dhabi.

The chairman of the DoE, Dr. Abdullah Humaid Al Jarwan, was present during the signing event. In front of several authorities and specialists from both sides, Khalifa University President Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri and DoE Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al Rumaithi signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

This strategic partnership reflects Abu Dhabi’s dedication to accelerating the shift to a sustainable future through the development of creative solutions that improve the efficiency of essential resource use and help create a more resilient and sustainable system in the face of climate change and growing demand for energy and water.

“This agreement is a groundbreaking model of integration between national academic institutions and government entities,” Al Rumaithi stressed. It supports our continuous initiatives to improve the emirate’s water and energy security via integrated plans and policies that prioritise innovation, sustainability, and efficiency.
