At the American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK) dual commencement ceremonies, the number of female graduates exceeded that of male graduates, and artificial intelligence (AI) took centre stage as the number of graduates doubled in a single year.
331 graduate and undergraduate students received their degrees during the 13th and 14th graduation ceremonies; 188 (56.8%) of these students were female, indicating the rising trend of women pursuing jobs and business.
The second important lesson learned was the growing importance of AI in the job market. The inaugural class of the university’s Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence program received their degrees at the event. The four-year Bachelor of Science in AI degree at AURAK equips students with the skills to build and create computer systems and data models.
The Class of 24’s 13th Graduation Ceremony is particularly significant because these graduates had to navigate the uncharted territory of online learning after enrolling in college during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At two consecutive ceremonies, AURAK, ranked sixth among UAE institutions and among the Top 500 institutions in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, celebrated 263 undergraduates and 68 graduates. Summa Cum Laude, the highest honour award, was given to eight students.
