Anticipated Weather

As the UAE gears up for a bout of unsettled weather, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issues a detailed advisory spanning Wednesday to Friday, highlighting the likelihood of heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Wednesday and Thursday: Varied Conditions

During these days, the weather is expected to present a mix of conditions, ranging from partly to mostly cloudy skies across scattered areas. Residents can anticipate a chance of light to moderate rainfall throughout the country, with specific regions such as Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, and Al Ain possibly experiencing heavier showers.

Thursday’s Weather Shift

A notable weather shift is projected for Thursday as fresh to strong northwesterly winds make their presence felt in the western regions starting from noon. This change in wind patterns will coincide with a gradual decrease in temperatures and a reduction in overall cloud cover by Thursday night.

Influence of Atmospheric Systems

Meteorological experts point to the influence of a surface low-pressure system originating from the southwest, coupled with the extension of an upper-air low-pressure system. These atmospheric systems, accompanied by a western Jetstream, are expected to bring varying amounts of cloud cover moving intermittently from the west.

Friday’s Forecast

Heading into Friday, clouds are predicted to linger over certain eastern areas, introducing the possibility of convective activity and daytime rainfall.

Wind and Sea Conditions

Wind conditions are anticipated to undergo a shift, starting as light southeasterly and transitioning to northwesterly by Thursday noon. Moderately fresh winds, occasionally reaching strong levels, may lead to blowing dust and sand, particularly over the sea.

Sea Conditions

Sea conditions are forecasted to be moderate, with the potential of becoming rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf on Thursday. Meanwhile, in the Oman Sea, initial conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, gradually turning rough by Thursday night. Residents are advised to stay updated on the evolving weather situation and take necessary precautions during this period of anticipated atmospheric activity.
