Amnesty for Overstayers is Extended by the UAE for an Additional Two Months

The grace period for violators to correct their status has been extended by two months, with the new deadline being December 31, 2024, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

The decision to prolong the amnesty is in line with the UAE’s 53rd Union Day festivities and reflects the nation’s humanitarian and cultural values, said Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the ICP.

This effort also addresses appeals from violators who want to resolve their status by either leaving the country or finding work and changing their residency status. Significant participation has been observed through the Authority’s official communication channels, especially when service centres across saw a spike in demand in the last days of the initial deadline, which was originally set for October 31, 2024.

This extension, according to Major General Al Khaili, is the last chance for violators to regularise their status without paying fines or being prohibited from entering the country.

He emphasised that the initiative’s advantages mirror its humanitarian aspect, giving offenders a better opportunity to resolve their status, deal with obstacles, defend their rights, and protect their families.
