At the World Utilities Congress 2025, Abu Dhabi Airports and Taqa Distribution, a division of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa), signed a Memorandum of Understanding to investigate ways to improve the management of water and power infrastructure and incorporate state-of-the-art technologies into the current and future utility networks across all airports in the Emirate.

In front of high-ranking authorities and industry participants, Omar Al Hashmi, CEO of Taqa Distribution, and Elena Sorlini, MD & CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, Taqa Distribution will investigate how to use its years of experience efficiently overseeing Abu Dhabi’s incredibly dependable public utilities network, its demonstrated ability to design and construct energy-efficient and cost-effective utility infrastructure, and its guarantee of a high standard of operational excellence in the upkeep of private-sector utility assets.

Taqa Distribution and Abu Dhabi Airports can collaborate to further Abu Dhabi’s goal of becoming a global aviation hub thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding,” stated Omar Al Hashmi.

Thanks to our core expertise in designing, implementing, and running utility assets, we will be able to seamlessly integrate into Abu Dhabi Airports’ operations to better serve millions of passengers and support the Emirates’ logistical and economic objectives.
