The chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, underlined that Greece is an essential pillar in the continuous narrative of human creation because of its rich historical past and worldwide cultural significance.
She emphasised that the country is an eternal source of knowledge and enlightenment for academics, intellectuals, and authors across generations. It inspired Homer’s epic works, formed Socratic ideas of virtue, and built theatres that continue to fire artistic creativity.
Her comments were made at the signing ceremony naming Greece as the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Guest of Honour. The CEO of SBA, Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, and the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Hellenic Republic, Yasonas Varthalitis, finalised the deal.
Sheikha Bodour stated: “The vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, continues to guide Sharjah’s cultural journey.” Through its embrace of Greek culture, the emirate upholds this ideal today. Sharjah is steadfast in its belief that communication and interaction beyond national borders are the foundation of thriving civilisations.
Greece’s involvement in the next Sharjah International Book Fair is an exciting chance for all of us to learn about the common roots of our myths and stories, as well as other shared influences that have influenced human awareness,” she continued.
