In Bilaspur, the home district of BJP national president J.P. Nadda in Himachal Pradesh, a private bus was struck by a rain-triggered landslide on Tuesday, killing at least 15 passengers and saving three others, according to officials. Since Monday, there has been sporadic rainfall in the area.

The bus got stuck beneath a huge landslide in the Jhanduta area, close to Bhallupul. Three youngsters have reportedly been saved alive and are receiving treatment at AIIMS Bilaspur and the government hospital in Barthin. According to witnesses, the bus was struck by the mountain, and the passengers’ chances of surviving are slim.

Sukhvinder Sukhu, the chief minister, conveyed his sorrow over the incident and offered his sympathies to the deceased. He claimed to be in close communication with the district government and to have given orders to speed up rescue and relief efforts.

The Chief Minister has mandated that the injured be taken to hospitals right once and that proper plans be put in place for their care. Rescue efforts continued late into the night as teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local government, and law enforcement hurried to the scene.
