The UAE has increased its efforts to boost cybersecurity in 2026, taking a proactive approach to preserving its developing digital infrastructure, ensuring the continuity of economic activity and key services, and instilling trust in the digital environment.

Throughout the year, developments have highlighted cybersecurity’s growing importance as an essential part of digital transformation, alongside artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and increasingly interconnected digital systems. The emphasis has changed to anticipating and preventing risks, rather than reacting solely after they occur.

In May, the UAE Cyber Security Council and CPX Holding established the UAE Cyber Factory to boost the country’s digital leadership and cyber sovereignty. The program intends to create superior AI-powered capabilities for predicting, detecting, and responding to complex cyberattacks, as well as to promote domestic cybersecurity technology development and digital independence.

The effort was launched in response to increased cyber dangers. In May 2026, the Council announced that the UAE had logged more than 800,000 cyberattacks each day in recent months, emphasising the need for strong, resilient defences to preserve important national infrastructure and sustain digital trust. National efforts have also centred on enhancing domestic cybersecurity capabilities through collaboration, knowledge transfer, and technological competence.
