A representative for India’s foreign ministry stated on Friday that over 320 Indian citizens are still unaccounted for following a disastrous flash flood that occurred this week in areas close to the Nepal-Tibet border. The statement claimed that 96 Indian nationals had entered Nepal by land, and at least 400 were stranded but safe on the Chinese side. A spokeswoman for the Indian External Affairs Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, informed reporters that 320 citizens are still unreachable. He stated that attempts were on to remove 96 Indians who had become stranded on the Chinese side and had crossed across to Nepal via land.
Outside a hospital in Kathmandu, relatives look through the records of individuals who went missing after flash floods in Nepal. According to Jaiswal, AFP India would also send a tunnel rescue team and another aircraft carrying relief materials. According to him, one prefabricated, temporary bridge has been shipped to Nepal to aid in reestablishing communication in the flood-affected areas. According to Nepalese officials, a large number of Indian visitors were travelling to Tibet’s Mount Kailash, a Hindu holy site.
At least five people have killed and 558 are missing in Gyirong County, Tibet, according to state media on Friday. 260 of the 558 missing individuals were foreigners, according to Chinese state television CCTV. Furthermore, China’s foreign ministry reported that almost 100 Chinese nationals were missing on the Nepal side. Ninety Americans were reported missing in China and Nepal, according to the US State Department. It claimed not to know of any deaths in the United States. Three Americans have been saved.
