The “Beladi” initiative was started by the Ministry of Defence to boost the UAE’s national skills and readiness while also preparing and developing domestic talent. The program reflects a long-term strategic vision to invest in human capital by preparing young Emiratis for national service by developing their leadership abilities, technical know-how, and practical knowledge. To find and assess promising Emirati candidates, the program started with a thorough Leadership Competency Assessment phase. In order to determine candidates’ talents and direct them toward career paths that best fit their potential and interests, the first selection process included psychological, physical, and cognitive exams in addition to in-person interviews and field assessments.
The 11-month program is a component of the National Service pathway. It provides a variety of specialized pathways during its first pilot year, with intentions to expand them in later stages in accordance with the program’s direction and national capability development objectives. Candidates will receive intensive teaching throughout the program, which combines specialized study with practical application, under the guidance of knowledgeable leaders and instructors from throughout the UAE Armed Forces.
By enhancing participants’ ties to the military establishment and fostering the creation of a trained operational reserve force that can contribute to improved national readiness, the Beladi program creates a sustainable pathway whose effects go beyond the training period. The program upholds the principles of national service, belonging, and national responsibility. Additionally, it fosters the ongoing exchange of knowledge and skills as well as the development of capacities, which improves the sustainability of national talent and its capacity to meet demands and overcome obstacles in the future.
