As part of collaborative efforts to guaranty the provision of a safe, healthy, and prepared educational environment to receive students, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) examined private schools’ preparedness for the start of the new academic year in collaboration with several entities in the emirate. Participating in the inspection visits were representatives from SPEA, Sharjah Civil Defence (SCD), Sharjah Health Authority (SHA), Sharjah Police, and Sharjah City Municipality. During these visits, a variety of preparations were examined to make sure that schools adhere to the established norms and regulations.
According to CDA engineer Hamad Al Hammadi, the authority has increased readiness for the upcoming school year by concentrating on improving safety and preventative measures in educational facilities. Al Hammadi clarified that in order to guaranty the greatest standards of safety within educational facilities, the CDA’s teams are working to make sure alarm and firefighting systems are ready, as well as to inspect emergency exits and evacuation routes.
In addition to reviewing evacuation plans and exercises, Al Hammadi highlighted the need for increased awareness campaigns aimed at school administrators and educational personnel. He emphasized the significance of having prepared evacuation plans and conducting drills on a regular basis to guaranty prompt response and safe evacuation in the event of an emergency. According to Rashid Al Mazmi, Head of SPEA’s Sanctions Department, field teams have been established to monitor every school in Sharjah and the Central Region, and the authority is ready to conduct field visits to private schools in the emirate to make sure they are ready to accept students.
