The week of August 10–16 saw a notable increase in passenger volume at Sharjah Airport. As travellers returned from their vacations ahead of the start of the new school year, the airport saw over 390,000 passengers during what is regarded as the peak of the summer travel season. At Sharjah Airport, there were more than 175,000 passengers arriving, about 151,000 departing, and more than 66,000 transit passengers during that time. Over 100 international destinations were served by the 1,175 leaving and 1,175 arriving flights that the airport reported. This illustrates the airport’s function as a regional hub for the transfer of passengers and air cargo, linking people and products via a worldwide network of destinations.
As families and tourists began their vacation travels, August 15th saw the largest daily passenger movement of the week, with 48,859 people arriving and departing, consisting of 25,251 arrivals and 23,608 departures. Cairo, Doha, Dhaka, and Amman were the most popular travel destinations for the week, indicating a persistent desire to visit important regional and global marketplaces. These numbers show how well Sharjah Airport prepared to accommodate travel demand during the busiest summer months, when it was anticipated to handle about 19,000 flight movements and welcome about three million people in July and August. In order to handle the ongoing increase in passenger traffic, guaranty the seamless operation of the airport, and improve the preparedness of all teams around the airport, the airport established an integrated operational strategy in collaboration with its key partners.
