Before the start of the new school year, Sharjah Civil Defence has advised parents, students, teachers, and school administrators to improve fire safety and prevention protocols. In order to safeguard students and employees and maintain a secure learning environment throughout the academic year, the authority emphasized the significance of integrating safety into routine procedures in educational settings. School administrators were advised to make sure that extinguishers, fire alarm systems, and firefighting equipment are in working order and that the required maintenance and inspections are performed. Obstacles that could impede a safe evacuation should also be removed from emergency exits, evacuation routes, and hallways.
The authority demanded that any safety issues be resolved right away and that fire safety equipment not be covered, blocked, or impaired. Additionally, schools were instructed to stop utilizing faulty cables or equipment exhibiting overheating symptoms, prevent overloading outlets, and make sure that electrical appliances and connections are used safely. It is important to store flammable products carefully and away from electrical devices and heat sources.
Additionally, Sharjah Civil Defence emphasized the significance of conducting frequent evacuation drills, keeping staff and students informed about emergency exits, escape routes, and authorized assembly points, and maintaining evacuation plans. Instructors were urged to raise students’ awareness of safety and to offer coordinated support in times of need, especially for pupils who might need extra help. Students were advised not to tamper with alarms, fire extinguishers, or other safety devices and to notify teachers or supervisors right away of any smoke, burning smells, or other warning indications.
