Every year on August 19th, the UAE commemorates World Humanitarian Day, inspired by the late Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s enduring humanitarian legacy, which placed assisting people and supporting those in need at the core of the nation’s ideals.
President His Highness Sheik Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan continues to spearhead the UAE’s humanitarian efforts, bolstering the country’s status as a global model for humanitarian response and forging bonds of solidarity with people and communities all over the world. The year 2026 has seen a tremendous increase in UAE humanitarian programs and projects, demonstrating the range and scope of the country’s humanitarian efforts.
The Edge of Life campaign has been one of the UAE’s most visible humanitarian projects this year. His Highness Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vise President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, launched the program, which seeks to save five million children from starvation around the world. It received more than Dhs2.822 billion in contributions from 44,208 individuals, businesses, and humanitarian organizations.
