At least nine workers were killed and over twenty others were gravely injured on Tuesday after a large boiler tube explosion at the Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitarai village in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district caused panic and mayhem, according to officials. About 40 to 50 laborers were working at the site when the explosion happened on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Workers hurried to get out of the building after the unexpected explosion created a stampede-like situation. Although the precise cause of the catastrophe is yet unknown, preliminary investigations point to a boiler tube burst. The incident’s initial casualties were confirmed by SP Praful Thakur. “Four workers have died, and 15 others sustained injuries,” he stated, adding that as rescue crews are still trying to free trapped personnel, the number may increase.
