With the backing of a roughly $1.5 billion commercial pipeline, the EDGE Group of the United Arab Emirates and the EM&E Group of Spain have agreed to investigate the possibility of forming a joint venture based in the United Arab Emirates. Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi, the UAE Ambassador to Spain, was present at the signing ceremony, held on Tuesday at EM&E Group’s headquarters.

The Spanish company will supply the UAE and other international markets with the newest technology in advanced remote weapon stations under this agreement, which was signed by Fernando Fernández, CEO of EM&E Group, and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group. Through the future UAE-based joint venture, the company intends to expand into the co-development of additional defense systems.

In addition to facilitating co-development of future systems and adaption of current ones, the new organization would create high-value employment opportunities in advanced defense technology by establishing a competent workforce in the United Arab Emirates that would span sales, engineering, and program management.

This collaboration with EM&E Group boosts our capabilities in cutting-edge weapon systems and solidifies our position in priority areas. “Our customers have a significant competitive advantage thanks to EDGE’s wide range of air, land, and maritime platforms and European defense expertise,” Al Marar added.
