As talks to secure a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries continue, Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, led a high-level government team to Egypt. Al Zeyoudi met with Hassan Al-Khatib, the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to discuss the advancements made thus far by the technical teams of both nations. The two ministers pledged to strengthen and broaden their bilateral economic ties.

The technical teams have been working on several chapters of a future CEPA, concentrating on important topics including trade in services, internet commerce, laws for manufacturers operating in free zones, and product rules of origin. The gathering represents a major advancement in the UAE and Egypt’s economic cooperation. “Investing in our relationship with Egypt is crucial for both nations,” Al Zeyoudi said in a statement. Increased trade, investment flows, and sustained economic growth will be made possible by a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which will usher in a new era of cooperation and partnership.

Non-oil trade between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates reached over $8.4 billion in 2024, up 21% from the year before. The strong commercial ties highlight the UAE’s significance as Egypt’s top trading partner in the GCC and the Arab world at large. By improving trade flows, private sector cooperation, and investment opportunities in a number of industries, especially manufacturing, agriculture, and renewable energy, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement seeks to expand on this foundation.
