The Dubai International Airport (DXB) has begun rolling out a “red carpet” corridor to greet incoming passengers, using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, without the need to stop or show documents, for a trial period coinciding with the 54th National Day, in a world-first move that improves the travel experience.

A few months ago, Dubai International Airport introduced a red carpet service for leaving passengers, which was the first of its kind globally and was highly accepted by travelers. The red carpet lane allows passengers to pass through passport control in seconds without producing any travel documents, while the smart lane can process up to 10 passports at once.

The lane is based on AI and biometric recognition systems, with data processed in advance to verify the identity of travelers, and the crossing process is completed without stopping or presenting documents, while exceptional cases are transferred for manual review, ensuring the highest level of safety.

Dubai Airports has stated that the Red Carpet service, which has altered the departure procedure at Dubai International Airport, would be expanded to include arriving passengers at Terminal 3 over the next two months.

Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, recently informed Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2025 that the Red Carpet service may process in as little as 6 seconds and as long as 14 seconds.
