The official theme for Emirati Women’s Day 2025 is “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years,” as directed by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “The Mother of the Nation,” who is also the chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and supreme chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

This year’s event, which is celebrated on August 28th every year, marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the General Women’s Union in 1975. The theme honours community collaboration nationwide and the ongoing accomplishments of Emirati women over the past 50 years.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration that 2025 will be the “Year of Community” with the theme “Hand in Hand” is consistent with the instruction. It emphasises the nation’s goal of fostering national unity and restates the crucial role Emirati women play as collaborators in the country’s advancement.

The subject for this year holds significant national and social significance, representing the spirit of participation that characterises the UAE’s strategy for women’s empowerment. It also reaffirms that cooperation from all facets of society is necessary to keep moving forward.
