The renowned Syrian director and actor Assaad Feddah has been named the recipient of the 18th edition of the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity in 2025, according to the Sharjah Department of Culture, which is sponsored by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The award recognizes his beneficial contribution to the growth and enrichment of the Arab theater movement for over 50 years, as well as his long and illustrious theatrical career filled with many accomplishments and victories.
In 2007, the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity was established with the patronage and cooperation of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. This yearly event honors the contributions and journeys of the pioneers and luminaries of Arab theater and coincides with the Sharjah Theatrical Days festival.
The prize supports the numerous efforts supported by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to promote and develop Arab theater, according to Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture. His belief in the vital and significant role that theater and its performers play in enlightening and enhancing communities while advancing values and knowledge is the source of this support.
