Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation on Saturday, giving the country’s youth demonstrators, who had called for his resignation over exam paper leaks, a significant win.
Hours before their leaders were scheduled to meet with ministers again, the minister announced his resignation on X as police used tear gas to disperse youthful demonstrators in New Delhi.
As he submitted his resignation, Pradhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and reiterated his dedication to youth and education, portraying it as a reaction to safeguard exam integrity and kids’ futures.
I have dedicated myself to the cause of students, teachers, and educational reform for over forty years,” Pradhan wrote in his letter. I’ve always thought that the foundation of a strong country is a strong, inclusive, and innovative educational system.I have a great deal of regard for the goals, feelings, and reasonable expectations of the nation’s youth. In our political and social lives, fulfilling the aspirations of India’s youth has been a moral commitment. He said, “I thank the Honourable Prime Minister for giving me the chance to serve the country under his inspiring leadership.
He said that as soon as the NEET-UG exam abnormalities were discovered, the government took prompt notice of the situation, turned over the inquiry to the CBI, canceled the test, and set a date for a re-examination.
