Early on Thursday morning, Russia launched a massive drone and missile strike on the capital of Ukraine, resulting in at least one fatality and 33 injuries, according to local authorities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that during the course of the night, its air defenses shot down or jammed 693 objects, including 652 different types of drones and 41 missiles. According to the Air Force, 24 places were directly attacked by 15 missiles and 23 drones. There were eighteen other areas where debris from downed drones fell.
Hours after a rare daytime bulk drone barrage on Wednesday, Kyiv was the main focus of the attack. According to Ukrainian officials, Russia launched the strike in retaliation for US President Donald Trump’s infrequent visit to China to meet with its leader, Xi Jinping.
Ballistic and cruise missiles were utilized in the mass strike, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He urged allies to speak up and called for ongoing assistance for Ukraine’s air defenses, saying, “These are definitely not the actions of those who believe the war is coming to an end.” Since the beginning of Wednesday, he claimed, Russia has attacked Ukrainian cities and localities with almost 1,560 drones.
