The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “How did you get started, and what led you to where you are today?”
Shaimaa Solaiman shared, “I began my career at the age of 21 after getting my master’s degree. My journey started at an international law firm, where I spent a decade honing my skills and gaining invaluable experience. In 2011, amidst the instability of the Egyptian revolution, I made the bold decision, in my life, to establish my law firm.
It wasn’t an easy path, given the country’s unstable conditions at that time. However, through persistence, resilience, and unwavering belief in myself and my vision, I was able to achieve my dream. This experience taught me that when you truly believe in yourself, the sky’s the limit.”

We were curious to learn more about the services offered by Shaimaa and her role in the organization. So, we asked, “Can you share more about your current role and the business you lead? What are the core services/products you provide?”
Shaimaa Solaiman shared, “Currently, I am the owner and Managing Partner of Challenge Law Firm. Our firm offers a comprehensive range of legal services to meet the diverse needs of our clients such as corporate services where we assist clients in choosing the right structure through our business strategy solutions, establish companies, handle all corporate matters, and conduct due diligence. Also, we assist clients in drafting the company’s policies and regulations, drafting employment contracts, and conducting investigations, if needed.
Our team specializes in drafting and reviewing all kinds of contracts in a bilingual format. In intellectual property services, we handle filing trademarks and other IP elements, as well as managing infringement cases. Moreover, our experienced litigators are here to represent and support you through any legal disputes. With a built-in translation partner at our office, we provide precise and reliable legal translations. We also provide after-service retainer advice to ensure all our client’s interests are consistently maintained. In essence, our goal is to act as business partners, not just legal advisors, ensuring that our clients receive continuous support and guidance.”
Adaptability Amidst Challenges
Every career path is filled with challenges. So, we asked, “What challenges have you faced as a business leader, and how have you overcome them?”
Shaimaa Solaiman responded, “I’ve faced several significant challenges throughout my career. The first challenge was balancing the roles of being a female leader of a law firm and a mother to a 3-year-old child when I started my law firm. I managed this by working late at night while my child slept and during his school hours, ensuring that the time in between was fully devoted to him. Today, he is 17 and preparing to start a new chapter in his life at the university.
The second obstacle was launching my firm during the Egyptian revolution. It was a period of great instability, making it difficult to attract clients. However, I persevered, believing in myself and my vision, and continued to strive until I reached my target.
The third and most personal challenge was losing my second child, a deeply depressing period that marked a significant turning point in my life. This experience profoundly changed me, making me more faithful and stronger. It taught me that true success is not merely about financial achievements or building a successful law firm, but about leaving a lasting legacy, making a meaningful impact on yourself, your family, and future generations to be remembered.”
Redefining Businesses With AI
We further asked, “How do you see technology, especially AI, impacting your industry? Are there any innovative practices you’re implementing?”
“In my opinion, while AI cannot replace humans entirely, it serves as a valuable smart assistant under stringent supervision, especially in the legal field. Given the critical nature of legal work, all experiments so far indicate that AI requires careful monitoring to avoid errors, as seen in the case where a lawyer used AI to draft a memo resulting in fake precedents.
At Challenge Law Firm, we leverage AI for specific tasks like reviewing and redrafting articles and streamlining daily administrative tasks. This helps save time for more focused legal services. By integrating AI carefully, we enhance efficiency without compromising the quality and accuracy of our work.” She added.
Envisioning The Future Of Legal Industry
Eager to learn Shaimaa’s perspective on the future growth of her industry, we asked, “What are your views on the future of the industry you’re associated with?”
Shaimaa Solaiman reflected, “I see the future of the legal market as incredibly promising. Currently, there is a noticeable shift where many international law firms are being led by dynamic and knowledgeable adults, rather than just relying on years of experience. This change is paving the way for a more innovative and vibrant legal industry.
One of the most encouraging trends is the increased emphasis on training the next generation of lawyers. Many firms are offering internships, moot courts, and other practical experiences to ensure that graduates are well-prepared to enter the legal market. At Challenge Law Firm, we are proud to contribute to this movement since we offer practical internships and real Moot Courts through our Moot Court Unit. Additionally, we are excited to soon launch our AI Legal Magazine, where law students can explore the impact of AI on various legal fields.”
“Furthermore, there is a significant change in hiring practices. It is now less about the number of years of experience and more about the true legal knowledge and skills one has gained. This shift allows young and talented lawyers to take on leadership roles, contributing fresh perspectives and ideas to the industry.
Overall, the future looks bright with continuous growth and innovation, and I am happy to be a part of this evolving legal landscape.” Shaimaa added.
Words Of Wisdom For Beginners
Addressing the beginners, we asked, “What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or leaders looking to make an impact in your industry?”
Shaimaa Solaiman shared, “My advice to the young generation in the legal industry is multifaceted. First and foremost, I always recommend cultivating strong reading habits. It is crucial to read broadly, not just legal texts because a well-rounded lawyer should be knowledgeable across various fields. This holistic approach enhances your analytical skills and your ability to think critically and creatively.
Additionally, be patient and persistent. The legal profession requires continuous learning and the acquisition of diverse skills. Take every opportunity to develop your abilities and gain experience, whether through internships, moot courts, or other practical engagements.
Believe in yourself and your potential. Never let anyone undermine your confidence or capabilities. Remember, the human spirit is incredibly resilient, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Challenges and difficulties are only stepping stones to your success. Keep pushing forward, and you’ll find that the only limitations are those you impose on yourself.”
The Art Of Balancing
We ended the session by asking, “How do you maintain a work-life balance while managing a business?”
“Maintaining a work-life balance while managing a business is indeed a challenging endeavor. Throughout my journey, I have always prioritized my clients’ interests, ensuring that their trust in me is never compromised. At the same time, I have made it a point to be there for my child, supporting him through each step of his life. Initially, this meant sacrificing my own comfort and personal time to balance these responsibilities.
However, as time has progressed, I have learned to carve out time for myself and my now-grown child. We make it a point to travel to new places and countries, enjoying the adventure and bonding moments. Additionally, we have fun outings to the cinema to watch our favorite movies and enjoy lunch together. While it hasn’t been easy, this balance is essential for maintaining both my professional excellence and personal well-being. It’s about making deliberate choices to ensure that all aspects of life are given their due attention.” Shaimaa concluded.
