Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has responded angrily to the deepfake video that has been doing the rounds online. The actress blasted the people who created the deepfake video in a lengthy message posted on her Instagram Stories section on Sunday. She labelled the content “bordering on sexual assault” and attacked them for their ignorance of the idea of permission. “The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women and circulate fictionalised content without consent is deeply violating, bordering on physical assault,” the author said. In my field, nearly all women have experienced some kind of this, and it is becoming more common for women worldwide. Among the most fundamental human values should be respect for a woman’s body, choice, and consent.

“Yet somehow, they continue to be treated as complicated,” she continued. They’re not. Surprisingly, some people still find it difficult to comprehend that a woman’s refusal must be respected even if she says “yes” five days in a row and “no” on the sixth. The video in question is a manipulated clip from her movie “Devara,” in which she costarred with NTR Jr. The actress went on to say that if a woman wears a miniskirt, it does not give anyone the right to shove a camera up her skirt, take pictures from inappropriate angles, or take advantage of her body. “What a woman is comfortable with, where she draws the LINE, and what she chooses to do with her body are decisions that belong exclusively to her,” she went on. This is fundamental. This goes much beyond anything I have personally encountered in my profession or the AI videos I have dealt with in recent days. It is about the broader reality of being a woman, the stare, the criticism, the ongoing compromise for security, and the perception that our limits are somehow ambiguous.
