After defrauding a man, the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered suspects to repay Dhs15,566 and compensate him with Dhs15,000. The victim allegedly filed a complaint against the accused, asking that they be jointly ordered to reimburse him Dhs15,566 in addition to Dhs35,000 in compensation and to cover all legal fees and costs. The complainant claimed that after one of the suspects contacted him and claimed to be real estate brokers offering an apartment for rent, he spoke with them on WhatsApp.
The plaintiff also stated that once he agreed to rent the apartment, they requested that he deposit Dhs3,000 as insurance to one of their bank accounts and subsequently Dhs9,666 as the first installment of rent to the property owner’s fiancée’s bank account. He continued by saying that they later requested that he wire Dhs2,900 as a brokerage commission to one of their bank accounts, bringing the total amount he transferred to Dhs15,566. Nevertheless, they did not follow the terms of the rental agreement that was reached.
As a result, he initiated a criminal action, and they were found guilty after causing the plaintiff material and moral harm. After examining the records, the court clarified that it was established that the plaintiff had given the appellees Dhs15,566, and as a result, they were required to reimburse the sum. The appellees were compelled to pay Dhs15,000 as full compensation for the damages incurred after the court confirmed that they had caused the complaint material and moral damages.
