According to the 13th International Pharmacy and Medicine Conference (ICPM 2025), three new pharmaceutical factories worth a total of more than $84 million (Dhs308.7 million) have been established in Sharjah.

The Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park hosted the conference when the agreements for the new factories were inked. In Sharjah, the new facilities will be added to an existing pharmaceutical plant, boosting the expanding pharmaceutical sector in the area. The facilities will focus on manufacturing first aid supplies, eye drops, antibiotic capsules, respiratory goods, and stomach drugs. Work is now in progress, with completion anticipated in mid- to late-2026.

The organising committee’s chairman, Dr. Munir Rayyan, emphasised the importance of these agreements in enhancing the pharmaceutical collaboration between multinational corporations and UAE-based factories, hence augmenting the UAE’s contribution to the regional pharmaceutical economy.

The new facilities demonstrate the UAE’s increasing contribution to pharmaceutical innovation and its capacity to compete on a global scale in the medical field. The first facility will use state-of-the-art technologies to make respiratory medicines and eyedrops, with an investment of $44 million. The project will be finished by the end of 2026.

The second, which will cost $35 million and occupy 10,000 square feet, will manufacture stomach drugs and antibiotic capsules. With operations beginning in 2026, it will have an annual production capacity of 600 million capsules.
