According to a social media post by Dubai Police, William Pereira Rogatto, a Brazilian national, was detained for his involvement in fraud in his home country and is on the Interpol Red Notice list.
Rogatto manipulated football match results and used them to make unlawful profits through bets placed on international sports betting sites.
Colonel Tariq Hilal Al Suwaidi, Director of the Wanted Persons Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigations, stated that the arrest of the internationally wanted suspect is part of the authority’s desire to strengthen cooperation and coordination with law enforcement agencies all over the world.
The authority also attempts to combat transnational organised crime in all of its manifestations within the framework of developing a strong global security system based on crime prevention and the exchange of successful security expertise in a way that improves societal security and safety.Dubai Police confirmed that the arrest of 34-year-old Rogatto came after he arrived in the country on a visit from Europe.
