In keeping with the leadership’s goal of integrating health and wellness into daily life, Sheik Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, introduced the Dubai Mallathon initiative at Dubai International (DXB). By converting DXB into an indoor walking track, Dubai Airports brought the citywide wellbeing initiative to an airport setting for the first time. Employes of Dubai Airports, members of the larger oneDXB community, and People of Determination came together for two morning indoor walks at the first Dubai Mallathon at DXB session, which was held at Terminal 3 Departures. The program is a part of DXB’s larger initiatives to rethink what an airport may be, promote worker well-being, and unite the airport community via common experiences.
“We’re proud to host The Dubai Mallathon in its second edition here at DXB,” stated Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports. We can all support this project because it encourages participation in activities outside physical activity. Small steps make a big difference in this community-driven initiative that works around everyday routines, job locations, and shifts. Because airports are inherently places of mobility, DXB is a great venue for indoor walks. This project provides our employes and the oneDXB community with an additional means of socializing, staying active, and supporting Dubai’s broader wellness goals.
