Anne-Claire Legendre, President of the Arab World Institute in Paris, was welcomed to the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Center this morning by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah. His Highness greeted the guest and her delegation at the start of the meeting and praised the long-standing and developing cultural ties between the French Republic and the United Arab Emirates, which have maintained communication and closer ties between the two nations and reinforced the role of culture in fostering bilateral relations and promoting cultural and civilisational exchange.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah talked about the role of specialised centers and institutes in both countries in introducing Arab culture and history to other peoples and promoting cultural dialogue with the Arab World Institute delegation in Paris. His Highness commended the Arab World Institute in Paris for its important role and long history of fostering Arab collaboration with European nations in the literary, artistic, and cultural spheres.
A number of issues pertaining to the Institute and its future goals were also discussed at the meeting, including its role as a premier international forum for cultural communication and reconciliation, raising awareness of Arab culture in international forums, promoting the Arabic language, and showcasing its creative, literary, and intellectual contributions. The Emirate of Sharjah’s significant contribution to the advancement of culture, literature, the arts, and the Arabic language, as well as its initiatives to spread these elements globally through bilateral ties between its many institutions and their international counterparts, were also discussed during the meeting. As a result, Sharjah has become a major cultural center in the Arab world as well as a popular destination for writers, artists, and thinkers. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the President of the Arab World Institute in Paris exchanged commemorative presents and cultural publications at the end of the meeting.
