In addition to extending its deepest sympathies to the victims of the unfortunate passenger airline tragedy that took the lives of 179 people, the Kingdom of Bahrain has shown its solidarity with South Korea. The crash happened during landing at Muan International Airport, southwest of the Republic of Korea.
Bahrain conveyed its profound condolences and solidarity with the governments and citizens of South Korea and Thailand, who were impacted by the tragic event, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, the Kingdom wished the injured a speedy recovery and expressed its condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the collision.
South Korea has announced a seven-day period of mourning in response to the incident. The Jeju Air 737 belly-landed and drifted off the runway, crashing into a wall at Muan International Airport and exploding in a blaze, making it the deadliest air accident in South Korea’s history.
A transport ministry official stated that the pilots called Mayday and then made an attempt to land immediately after the control tower received a bird strike warning.
