The American University of Sharjah (AUS) honoured its generous partners who are shaping the future of education during the AUS Donor Appreciation Get-Together, which was hosted on campus in the presence of AUS President Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sheikha Bodour stated, “At AUS, we regard generosity as a strong statement of conviction in education’s ability to alter lives. Our donations are part of a living tradition that began with His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi’s vision and continues to this day via every opportunity we give for students to study, grow, and lead. The successes we celebrate demonstrate what is possible when we invest in both people and institutions.
Sir Magdi Yacoub, a world-renowned cardiac surgeon and philanthropist, attended the ceremony as a guest of honour, highlighting the AUS donor community’s common ideals of compassion, education, and service.
Dr. Giacomo Chiozza, the Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg Professorship holder and Professor of Political Science at AUS, acted as master of ceremonies, remarking on the value of collaboration in academic life. Sheikha Bodour made welcoming comments, emphasising AUS’s duty to create inclusivity, drive innovation, and equip the next generation of changemakers with the assistance of its donor community.
