The Abu Dhabi Police has warned the public about Ramadan tournaments. These tournaments often provide rewards, and in some circumstances, the winner is persuaded to disclose personal and financial information to obtain the award. The Abu Dhabi Police Department emphasizes that the primary goal of these tournaments is to misappropriate monies through fraudulent ways. Furthermore, the Abu Dhabi Police have warned people against clicking on fake links to unofficial charitable organisations on social media platforms.

Major General Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of Criminal Security Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, explained that the perpetrators duped their victims by promising financial prizes from Ramadan competitions, then demanding that the victims transfer balances to complete the procedures for receiving the bogus prizes.

He also emphasized the need of assessing the trustworthiness of these websites, not expose confidential information, resist any type of extortion, and follow the rules of the relevant authorities in order to combat cybercrime. Brigadier Rashid Khalaf Al Dhaheri, the head of the Criminal Investigations and Investigations Directorate, urged the public not to believe any advertisements or messages on social media sites or chat applications that use religious and humanitarian sentiments to collect money without a license.
