Ministerial Resolution No. (19) of 2024, published by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), lays forth the requirements for admission to programs offered by higher education institutions (HEIs) located in the United Arab Emirates.
When admitting students to bachelor’s degrees, higher diplomas, diplomas, partial qualifications, and short learning units (levels 4 and 5 of the National Qualifications Framework), the resolution offers HEIs guiding principles to adopt or create their own criteria.
The Ministry’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with universities and give them the ability to tailor their academic programs to students’ goals are in line with the updating of the guiding criteria for admission to HEIs, according to Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector and Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR. He emphasized that while upholding transparent and unambiguous norms that guarantee the caliber and brilliance of academic programs, the decision will assist students in becoming more prepared to meet the demands of the labor market.
