In an effort to expand the reach of its music service, Apple will broadcast its carefully chosen radio stations on a global network of connected automobiles and home speakers, the Wall Street Journal said on Wednesday. According to the report, the iPhone manufacturer has partnered with digital radio platform TuneIn to make its six radio stations accessible outside of its app for the first time.

According to the source, TuneIn’s 75 million monthly active users will have access to Apple’s channels starting on Wednesday. The CEO of the digital radio platform, Richard Stern, was quoted in the newspaper as claiming that the Cupertino, California-based company had approached TuneIn about a partnership at the end of last year.

According to the research, which cited MIDiA Research, Spotify’s market share of digital music users in the U.S. grew while Apple’s dropped to 25% at the end of last year from 30% in 2020. Requests for comment from Reuters were not immediately answered by Apple or TuneIn.
