The UAE Media Council established a thorough framework to control, empower, and promote the expansion of the media industry. The formation of the Council in February 2023, followed by the publication of the Media Regulation Law and accompanying Executive Regulation, marked the beginning of a revolutionary path that this effort builds upon.
In the presence of Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, and Maitha Al Suwaidi, CEO of Strategy and Media Policies Sector at the UAE Media Council, the announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday at Creators HQ in Emirates Towers, Dubai.
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi highlighted the Council’s continued dedication to establishing a new media system that reflects the UAE leadership’s vision for a contemporary and integrated media environment. As envisioned by the UAE’s leadership, this system seeks to bring about a revolutionary change in the country’s media industry’s growth, guaranteeing its sustained leadership in the region and the world.
“The new system combines updated legislation, comprehensive media services, and policies covering various sectors to enhance efficiency and sustainable growth,” said Al Shehhi, “transforming the way the media sector is regulated and developed.” Al Shehhi emphasised the Media Regulation Law and accompanying Executive Regulation as a turning point for the UAE media industry’s next phase of leadership and competition.
