
The Council’s chairman, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, presided over the 15th meeting of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), which took place at its headquarters in Sharjah during the second regular session of the 11th legislative term. The Council addressed the Sharjah Airport Authority’s policies.
Sharjah Airport Authority Chairman and Executive Council Member Ali Salim Al Midfa, the Authority’s Director Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Al Qasimi, and several other high-ranking officials attended the meeting.
During his address, Ali Salim Al Midfa spoke over the key components of the airport’s extensive expansion plan, which is the biggest since it was first established. He also mentioned that the project is now more than 71% finished.
Through the construction of additional buildings, the enlargement of the departure and arrival halls, and the development of baggage systems and smart services, the project seeks to enhance the airport’s capacity to over 20 million people annually by 2027.
Additionally, Al Midfa discussed the 2024 figures for Sharjah Airport, which include an 11% increase in passengers, a 10% increase in aircraft, a 2% increase in air and sea freight, and a 39% increase in air freight overall.
