Over the past few days, there has been an increase in staycations in the UAE as families start organising their half-term vacations.
Offering students and families a break from strict academic schedules, several private schools are planning a week-long break that will begin either on October 14 and end on October 18 or on October 21 and end on October 25.
Every school has a different policy about half-term vacations; some take a whole week off, while others settle for a long weekend, as long as they still satisfy the 182 minimum number of school days required for foreign schools.
“By October, the weather in the UAE will improve, leading to a 15–20 percent increase in demand for staycations,” stated Raheesh Babu, COO of musafir.com. Staycations, or brief stays within the country during the holiday, are becoming more popular than short trips abroad.
According to him, other well-liked travel spots are Ras Al Khaimah, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, and the Palm districts of Dubai.
