Libraries tell the story of how human knowledge has developed through the efforts of generations of scholars, writers, and researchers who collected, documented, and passed it on,” stated Eman Bushulaibi, Director of SPL. We hope that through the “Library of Civilisation,” visitors will learn about the cultural history and collective memory of societies as well as the stories behind books and manuscripts.
Introducing younger generations to the history of libraries is closely linked to encouraging them to read and make use of the knowledge resources available today,” she continued. We want libraries to be hubs for discussion and exploration, where patrons can interact with writers and scholars and learn more about how knowledge is created and validated. Through our initiatives, we hope to foster a lifelong love of reading and education while bolstering the role of libraries in cultural life.
