In order to further the UAE-US partnership in advanced science and technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space, and quantum computing, Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, led a delegation from the UAE to Washington, DC, for a series of meetings with senior US government officials, leaders of research institutions and think tanks, and technology companies. Along with members from the UAE Space Agency and Space42, the trip also comprised Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, and Dr. Mohamed Alkhemairi, Executive Director of the Research and Development Ecosystem at the Advanced Technology Research Council.
Omran Sharaf met with Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, to talk about ways to further the two nations’ technological partnership, share perspectives on the swift advancements in science and technology, and find ways to promote common interests. Additionally, Sharaf met with Adam Cassady, the US Department of State’s Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy, and Jacob Helberg, the Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment. In addition to improving information sharing and readiness for next technologies, such as post-quantum cryptography, the sessions covered prospects to increase collaboration in advanced artificial intelligence, quantum and secure technologies, cybersecurity, and trusted digital infrastructure.
