ABU DHABI: As part of continuous efforts to improve bilateral collaboration and talk about the UAE’s most recent fiscal developments and policy priorities, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) welcomed a group from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to its offices in Abu Dhabi. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, was present at the meeting. Saeed Bakash, Head of the IMF Mission to the UAE, headed the IMF mission, which included several experts and professionals from both sides.
The conference included an evaluation of the UAE’s fiscal performance for 2025 and the first half of 2026, as well as recent changes in government fiscal policies and priorities for the following phase. Financial risk management techniques and medium-term fiscal frameworks were also discussed. Along with reviewing public debt developments, future plans for sovereign issuance, and the evolution of the domestic capital markets, as well as opportunities to further deepen and develop them in the future, the two sides also held in-depth technical discussions on the implications of recent fiscal developments for the UAE’s state budget, capacity development priorities, and technical assistance.
“Under the direction of the UAE’s forward-thinking leadership, the Ministry of Finance continues to make steady progress in consolidating a sustainable fiscal model built on resilience, efficient resource management, and diversified government revenues,” Younis Haji AlKhoori stated during the meeting. In addition to consistently bolstering fiscal policies and tax systems that support financial stability and protect the sustainability of public resources for future generations, our frequent interactions with the International Monetary Fund reaffirm the Ministry’s commitment to implementing international best practices and globally recognized standards in fiscal governance. This commitment is especially crucial in light of the increasingly dynamic global environment and new threats that necessitate careful public finance management and tight coordination.
