Through an initiative by two long-staying Filipinos in Dubai, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) are pursued by bringing in craftsmen from ten provinces and one Metro Manila city, encouraged to capitalize on the UAE’s openness to sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The Casa Filipina at The Garden Concept Store is a project that launched on May 4th, National Heritage Month in the Philippines, ahead of June 12th, the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence from Spain. In their respective speeches, Trade Commissioner Vichael Angelo Roaring and Consul General Ambrosio Brian Enciso III in Dubai and the Northern Emirates emphasized the importance of the required international support for any country’s artisanship and related ecosystems, even as the world economy relentlessly advances toward the best of the best in contemporary infrastructures and technology.
Casa Filipina carries a name that is simple yet powerful,” Enciso stated in front of visitors that included officials from the Northern Emirates, the Philippine Embassy-Abu Dhabi Economic Consul Regatta Marie Antonio-Escutin, and the Philippine Business Council-Dubai. It talks about home. It discusses identity. It highlights the Filipino talent for transforming social, natural, and meaningful things into beautiful things.
