The UAE will speed up work on a new oil pipeline to double its export capacity via Fujairah, the government’s Abu Dhabi media office announced on Friday of a project that would massively increase its ability to transit the partially closed Strait of Hormuz.

Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, presided a meeting of the Executive Committee of the ADNOC Board of Directors at the company’s headquarters in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Khaled lauded ADNOC at the conference for its resilience in keeping operations safe and secure while continuing to dependably supply electricity to local and international consumers. He was also briefed on the new West-East Pipeline project that will increase ADNOC’s export capacity through Fujairah. The pipeline is currently under development and is projected to be operational in 2027. Sheikh Khaled urged ADNOC to speed up delivery of the project as the corporation embarks into a new era of world-scale project delivery to meet global demand for energy.
