Her Highness The players of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club volleyball team were welcomed on Wednesday night at Al Badee’ Palace by Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, following their historic triumph at the first-ever West Asia Women’s Volleyball Clubs Championship.
Sheikha Haya Bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Arab Women Sports Tournament’s Supervisory and Follow-up Committee, was present at the reception. The State of Kuwait hosted the inaugural West Asian Volleyball Association (WAVA) Clubs Volleyball Championship, won by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club.
The team’s remarkable journey, which changed the course of Emirati women’s sport in Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates, culminated with this reception. In the final match, which took place last Saturday at Salwa Al-Sabah Sports Club in Kuwait in front of notable officials and a sizable crowd, the team easily defeated Kuwait’s Al-Fatat Club in straight sets (3–0) to win the gold medal.
Sheikha Jawaher gave a speech in which she expressed her great delight in the accomplishment, congratulated the players, and affirmed that their success exemplifies the principles of dedication, teamwork, and perseverance upon which the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation was founded.
